KRM arranged this cloisonne pattern and designed it.
The color is dark-blue of the Japan blue which I printed with indigo dye.

誰もが知る日本昔話のストーリーから3つの場面に切り取って、Ｍ・Ｌ・ＸＬ、それぞれ１着限りのアンティークな着物を仕立て直した長袖シャツに衣らしく表現。
着物1枚1枚が今は同じものがない素材ながら、さらにその1着に落とし込まれた柄は1デザインだけ。
まさに世界に1つしかない、特別な1着。
手振り刺繍の職人が着物の細部に至るまで、丁寧に丁寧に針を動かし、1つの図柄に費やした時間は計り知れない。
積み重なった針の分だけ、刺繍に深みが増し、と同時にストーリーまで浮き彫りに。
一期一会、出会いの機会は一度きり。袖を通せるのも、お一方様限りの逸品です。
The story line is such a content.
Long ago,there was a grandfather called Okina Of Taketori.
One day, the grandfather cut a rod of bright bamboo,then a little cute girl appeared from there.
The grandfather and garandmother named her[Kaguya Princess] and brought up with care.
The Princess beomes so beautiful that this rumor could reach the ear of the King.
At that time,Kaguya Princess was shedding tears facing to the moon.
Shortly,in a full moon night,Kaguya Princess was invited by a celestial nymph and got back to the moon world.
This shirt expresses 1 scene from three scenes of the story.
Of course I change it into a design like KOROMO.
It is difficult to be so delicate by the TEBURI embroidery, and to turn on big embroidery.
It is because it is to take time very much.

麻の葉文様ASANOHA MONYO - Geometric hemp-leaf pattern -2016.01.21
「麻の葉」という文様は古くから慕われ続けてきた日本古来の文様の１つ。
六角形を基本的なモチーフにして組み合わせた幾何学的な文様で、和服に用いられる柄です。
なぜ、「麻の葉」という文様があるのか？
それは日本の歴史にも大きなルーツがある事が分かります。
「麻」という植物は非常に身近な存在で、茎の繊維は糸にする事ができ、縄や網にもできます。
布にすることで衣類をにもなるため、木綿の栽培がされるようになるまでは麻が主要な繊維の原料でした。もちろん「絹」もありましたが、高価なものだったため、庶民には麻の布がなくてはならない素材だったのです。また木綿よりも強い強度が重宝されました。
さらに麻の実は食べる事もでき、脂も抽出する事が出来たそうです。そうした麻は紀元前から栽培されていたという歴史もあり、本当に身近な存在となり、次第に神聖なものとしての考えが生まれていくのです。
人々にとって常に身近な麻は、その親しみから、平安時代の頃に文様になりました。それが「麻の葉」文様の始まりです。当時の仏像装飾には、麻の葉文様が使われていたりするため、「邪気を祓う力がある」とされ、麻の葉文様は魔除けの文様として知られました。
また麻は「虫が付かず、丈夫で真直ぐに成長する」ということも、江戸時代には麻の葉文様を使った赤ちゃんの産着を作る習慣があったそうです。日本人ならでは想いを込めた文化の１つだと、そう思います。
余談ですが、忍者になるための修行で、毎日育つ植物を飛び越え続ければ、すごい跳躍力を身につける。と、子供ながらに体験してみた事のある方もおられるかも知れませんが、その植物が「麻」だそうです。
文様一つにしても、意味のある歴史があるものですね。そんな「麻の葉」文様をインディゴ生地にステッチ刺繍を施した作品が「衣」より登場！袖を通すたび、文様のルーツを思い出していただけ、またそれが次の世代に伝われば、私たちは幸いです。

There is a pattern called ASANOHA in Japan from old days.
It is one of the patterns which the Japanese history made.
A motif is a family crest of a hemp leaf.
It is the geometry pattern which put much hexagon together.
The hemp is very durable and can make a thread from the fiber of the stem.
And peaple make it for a net and a rope and cloth and can change it.
Hemp was main fiber until cultivation of the cotton began in the history.
There was the silk in those days, too. But the common people can hardly buy the silk with a high price.
In addition, peaple can eat the hempseed. The people can extract oil. peaple was useful very much.
In that way the hemp with the friendly feeling became the pattern in the Heian era.
It is ASANOHA pattern.ASANOHA was used for the decoration of the Buddha statue.
Therefore it is believed that there is power to drive out evil sprits.
In addition, the hemp does not keep bad company. And it is strong and grow straight up. There seemed to be a custom to make baby clothes using ASANOHA to have the wish realized in the Edo era.
We cooked the indigo dough that expressed history and meaningful ASANOHA by embroidery. I sewed the shirt which expressed the history and the meaning of the pattern like Japan with the cloth.

針供養HARI KUYO2016.01.09
こんにちは。皆様は「針供養」という言葉をご存知でしょうか？
裁縫をされる方の中には耳にされた事もあるかと思いますが、私たち服作りに携わる者としては、とても大切な行事であります。
それは「事八日」と言われる行事の１つなのですが、お正月に行われる神事を「事（こと）」としていることから、「事八日」とはその前後月の12月8日と2月8日に行われる行事をさします。
「針供養」という言葉の通り、針仕事を続ける中で折れたり曲がったりした針を供養し、これからの針仕事の技術向上を願う日とされています。
全国各地にこの行事をされている神社がありますが、京都では嵯峨嵐山の「法輪寺」と、京都御苑のすぐそばにあります「護王神社」が有名だそうです。
針供養の行事にはまだ早いのですが、その「護王神社」へ足を運んでまいりました。
護王神社といえば、狛犬ならぬ狛猪が有名。
神社内に置かれた案内には、和気清麻呂という奈良～平安時代の貴族が九州の宇佐八幡宮へ向かった際、どこからともなく現れた300頭の猪が宇佐までの道中を案内したとされ、不思議なことに清麻呂が悩んでいた足の病気が治ったという故事があるそうです。
そのため、足腰の健康維持や、けが・病気の回復にご利益があるとして、今も多くの方が参拝されている神社で、狛犬が狛猪である由縁でもあるそうです。
その珍しさからか、神社内はいたるところも猪だらけ。
手水舎も口から水を流す猪だったり、彫刻や民芸品などの「猪コレクション」なるものも展示されています。
ウィスキーのラベルが猪柄だったりするようなものもありましたので、イノシシ好きや、亥年の方には特に人気のある神社ではないでしょうか。
今年は申年ではありますが、お近くに足を運ばれましたら、ぜひご参拝されてみてください。
HARI KUYO mean a requiem service for broken needles.

The people mourn for a needle and a bent stitch broken at the time of sewing.

An event to be carried out in HORINJI temple and GOOU shrine is famous in Kyoto.
GOOU shrine is near from our atelier.
We do HARI KUYO on February 8, too.
