12月のカレンダー柄は八坂神社の「をけら詣り」
大みそかから元旦にかけて、京都の社寺は新しい年を迎える人々でにぎわいます。
除夜の鐘をつく、山腹から初日の出を拝む、干支（えと）のおみくじをひくなど、
寺社の立地や特徴によって参拝者のお目当てはさまざま。
そんな中でも、年越しの風物詩として京都の人々に守り継がれている行事が、
祇園の八坂神社で行われる「をけら詣（まい）り」
「をけら詣り」とは？
京都の年末の風物詩として12月31日の午後7時半頃から元旦の早朝5時頃まで執り行われるのが「をけら詣り」
午後7時から本殿にて一年を締めくくる除夜祭が執り行われ、
祭典後には境内に設けられた灯籠に順次、神職により浄火が点火されます。
参拝者はこの「をけら火」を火縄に移して消えないように持ち帰り、
かつては新年の雑煮を炊く釜の火種や神棚の灯明にして、一年間の無病息災を祈願しました。
現在では「をけら火」を消した火縄を火伏せのお守りとして台所にお飾りいただけます。

From New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day, Kyoto’s shrines and temples are bustling with people welcoming the new year.
Ring a bell on New Year’s Eve, pray for the first sunrise of the year from the mountainside, draw a fortune for the zodiac, etc.
Visitors have different objectives depending on the location and characteristics of the temple.
Among these events, the event that has been preserved by the people of Kyoto as a symbol of New Year’s is:

What is Okeramairi?
“Okeramairi” is a year-end tradition in Kyoto that runs from about 7:30 PM on December 31 to about 5:00 in the morning on New Year’s Day.
The New Year’s Eve Festival, which concludes the year, is held at the main shrine from 7:00 PM
After the festival, the lanterns in the precincts are consecutively lit by priests.
Worshippers transfer this “okerahi” to a rope and take it home indelibly.
It used to be used as a light in a pot to cook zoni for the New Year or as a light in a household shrine to pray for good health for a year.
Today, you can decorate your kitchen with a rope that has been extinguished as an amulet for fire protection.
