葛飾北斎「富嶽三十六景」。
日本を代表する浮世絵として、 今なお世界中で愛され続ける名作です。
今回、衣ではその景色を元に、 “もし衣が富嶽を描いたなら”という視点で 五枚の作品へ描き変えました。
荒れ狂う波。
静かにそびえる富士。
東海道を行き交う旅人たち。
そこへ現れるのは、 髑髏や鯰たち。
少し不気味で、どこか滑稽。
けれど昔の日本では、 髑髏も鯰も、ただ怖いだけの存在ではなく、 人々の暮らしや信仰、洒落の文化とも結び付いてきました。
だからこそ、 北斎の世界へ不思議と溶け込んでいきます。
名画への敬意を残しながら、 衣らしい遊び心と妖しさを重ねた今回の富嶽シリーズ。
近くで見るほど細かな発見があり、 一枚ごとに異なる景色と物語が広がっています。
ただの浮世絵でもない。

Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.
It is a masterpiece of ukiyo-e, beloved around the world and recognized as one of Japan’s most iconic works of art.
For this collection, KOROMO reimagined those famous landscapes through a simple question:
“What if KOROMO had painted Mount Fuji?”
Raging waves.
Mount Fuji standing quietly in the distance.
Travelers making their way along the Tōkaidō road.
And appearing among them—
Skulls and giant catfish.
A little eerie, yet somehow humorous.
In old Japan, however, neither skulls nor catfish were seen as merely frightening figures. They were deeply connected to everyday life, folk beliefs, and a culture that embraced wit and playful humor.
That is precisely why they blend so naturally into Hokusai’s world.
With deep respect for the original masterpieces, this Mount Fuji series layers KOROMO’s distinctive sense of playfulness and mystery onto these timeless scenes.
The closer you look, the more details reveal themselves, and each piece unfolds its own unique landscape and story.
Neither simply ukiyo-e.
Nor merely a traditional Japanese motif.
This is an “Otherworldly Fuji” that could only have been created by KOROMO.
