花ぶりは大きく存在感があり、その品種の多様さと、
すべての花の美しさに心惹かれる人は後を絶ちません。
百花繚乱、全ての草花の“王”とも賞される花、『牡丹』。
衣でも人気のモチーフが５つの色を冠した作品となり、お目見えです。
この“５つの色”にも実は意味があり、「五行（木・火・土・金・水）」や、「五方（東・西・中央・南・北）」といったものと結びつきがあり、魔除けの意味が込められていたりするのです。
日本文化にはたいへん由縁深い色数“５つの色”は、七夕の短冊や、鯉のぼりの吹き流し、さらには大相撲の土俵上、屋根からは東西南北にそれぞれ別の色の房が垂れ下がっていたりと、五つの色で形作られるものが多くありますね。
百花の王を、日本ゆかりの5つの色で表現した作品。
